From Armero to El Sifón
The longest climb in the world is in Colombia: it starts in flat and warm lands, next to the Magdalena River, and ends next to the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, on the Andean summits of the Central Mountains.
The tour is a true physical feat, but the effort brings as reward an imposing beauty and memorable satisfaction. At the top, in the middle of a moor surrounded by mountains, El Sifón summit awaits, almost always hidden between clouds and fog.
Every cyclist should conquer it at least once in his lifetime.

Armero ruins
The long climb begins next to the ruins of Armero, a town that was razed by the last eruption of the volcano, which occurred in 1985.
Today the road passes by as if it wanted to dodge the past, between houses and buildings taken by lush vegetation.
Coffee Farms
Half way through, between 1500 and 2000 masl, the trees next to the road disappear and leave room for symmetrically planted coffee plants, a tenacious crop that clings to the slopes as the most stubborn cyclists.

A forest of Frailejones
In the final stretch of the ascent, over the 3000 meters mark, an immense and overwhelming moor is opened where water sources, which run in icy and crystalline channels. The road, almost always empty, advances between a Frailejones forest that already grew there more than three hundred years ago.
